Appendix Nine--
The Prophet of Islam?



The Quran is a book of many weird prophets mentioned that have no biblical parallel to the Old or New Testament. You read the Quran and you find many strange prophets mentioned. One of these strange prophets is Idris. For a book that claims to be the eternal word of God, the Quran really falls short, in comparison to the Bible, in explaining about these prophets.

Moses is a prophet in the bible who is given extensive coverage about his life, his activities and his leadership of the Hebrew people out of Egypt. In the Quran, the same thing is also shown. However we already know about these prophets long before the Quran so it doesn't really help in trying to reiterate about them again. All the Quran basically does is just repeat the bible in many passages or it adds to the bible accounts with stories we don't find, except in the Quran itself.

Who are these other prophets in the Quran that the Bible seems to forget or leave out? With the exception of Dhul Qarnin, we don't know. If the Quran claims to be the inspired word of God then how come we don't find any information at all telling us how these prophets preached the message of God and how they were themselves chosen to follow God? Surely God would seem bright enough to provide answers to potential questions concerning the appearance of new prophets not found in the bible. However it seems that the Quran itself is suspect due to the fact that these prophets aren't elaborated on more than the mere mention or their name in a verse which is surrounded by other well-known prophets. One of these prophets mentioned in the Quran is Idris. Idris wasn't discussed in the entire Quran except in about 2 scriptures


19.56 Also mention in the Book Idrís: he was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet:

21.85 And (remember) Ismail, Idrís, and Zulkifl, all (men) of constancy and patience;

The Quran tells us in Surah 19:56 that Idris was to be mentioned in the book by Muhammad. Surely this book can't be the bible due to the fact that Mr. Idris doesn't exist at all! In the Quran we also see nothing about Idris other than his name. What is there to mention about Idris? Apparently Muhammad didn't know since he obviously didn't mention anything in the book (Quran). How was Idris a man of truth? How was Idris a prophet? The Quran gives no explanation of whatsoever. When did Idris live? Again, no explanation from the Quran. Who was Idris a prophet too? Again no answers found.

Surah 21:85 says that Muslims must remember Ishmael, and Iris, along with others. The Quran continues by saying that all were men of constancy and patience. We know about Ishmael from the bible but again we don't find nothing mentioned by the Quran concerning how Idris is. How was exactly Idris a man of patience? We don't know but due to blind faith and nothing to go own, Muslims must believe this message in the Quran. So who is Idris? Here is what a Muslim named Naim said:

Idris is Enoch which is clear from the Quranic and hadith texts you fool!

Naim's assertions are also verified by this source and may be the common assertion of Muslims today

Idris, commonly identified with the Biblical Enoch is commemorated as a saint and a prophet whom god raised to a lofty station. Ismael and Idris are also referred to in the Sura of the Prophets, together with ZulKifl (believed to be an Arabicised form of Ezekiel). They are qualified as men of constancy and patience, whom God admitted to his mercy for they were among the righteous (A Guide to the Contents o of the Quran, Sherif, Faruq, pg. 94 Garnett, 1995, ISBN 1 85964 045 1)

Naim calls me a fool for not accepting this idea but lets investigate his claims to see the parallels of Enoch and Idris. We will also see whether Idris is indeed Enoch as Muslims like Naim claim. Read Genesis 5:21-24:

So all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years; and he died. Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Hebrews 11:4-5
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

In order for us to make Idris be Enoch we have to find in both the Quran and the Hadith evidence of Idris doing these things like Enoch that the bible, which was in existence before Islam, mentioned. It seemed like a great prophet like Idris should be accompanied with proof in the so-called word of God which the Quran claims to be. However, there is no such evidence from both the Quran and the Hadith, look at the 2 previous scriptures mentioned earlier from the Quran, these are the only 2 that mention Idris:


19.56 Also mention in the Book Idrís: he was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet:

21.85 And (remember) Ismail, Idrís, and Zulkifl, all (men) of constancy and patience;

None of these scriptures show anything about Idris performing anything close to the actions of Enoch. They just mention his name and that's all. Does the Hadith give any more light on this evidence? Let see: (note: If the Hadith is to long to post the part dealing specifically with Idris will be shown, this is not to post out of context but to keep the reader focused. There are many hadiths that are long in which more than one topic is discussed)

Volume 1, Book 8, Number 345:

Narrated Abu Dhar:

Allah's Apostle said, "While I was at Mecca the roof of my house was opened and Gabriel descended, opened my chest, and washed it with Zam-zam water. Then he brought a golden tray full of wisdom and faith and having poured its contents into my chest, he closed it. Then he took my hand and ascended with me to the nearest heaven, when I reached the nearest heaven, Gabriel said to the gatekeeper of the heaven, 'Open (the gate).' The gatekeeper asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel answered: 'Gabriel.' He asked, 'Is there anyone with you?' Gabriel replied, 'Yes, Muhammad I is with me.' He asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel said, 'Yes.' So the gate was opened and we went over the nearest heaven and there we saw a man sitting with some people on his right and some on his left. When he looked towards his right, he laughed and when he looked toward his left he wept. Then he said, 'Welcome! O pious Prophet and pious son.' I asked Gabriel, 'Who is he?' He replied, 'He is Adam and the people on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. Those on his right are the people of Paradise and those on his left are the people of Hell and when he looks towards his right he laughs and when he looks towards his left he weeps.' Then he ascended with me till he reached the second heaven and he (Gabriel) said to its gatekeeper, 'Open (the gate).' The gatekeeper said to him the same as the gatekeeper of the first heaven had said and he opened the gate. 'Welcome! O pious Prophet and pious brother.' The Prophet asked, 'Who is he?' Gabriel replied, 'He is Idris." The Prophet added, "I passed by Moses and he said, 'Welcome! O pious Prophet and pious brother.' I asked Gabriel, 'Who is he?' Gabriel replied, 'He is Moses.' Then I passed by Jesus and he said, 'Welcome! O pious brother and pious Prophet.' I asked, 'Who is he?' Gabriel replied, 'He is Jesus.

This Hadith tells us that Idris was in heaven but again no answer as to what type of activities Idris performed to get there as a prophet. If Idris was Enoch, why didn't Muhammad elaborate more on him in the Quran or Hadith to prove this statement?

Volume 4, Book 54, Number 429:

Narrated Malik bin Sasaa:

The Prophet said, "While I was at the House in a state midway between sleep and wakefulness, (an angel recognized me) as the man lying between two men. A golden tray full of wisdom and belief was brought to me and my body was cut open from the throat to the lower part of the abdomen and then my abdomen was washed with Zam-zam water and (my heart was) filled with wisdom and belief. Al-Buraq, a white animal, smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me and I set out with Gabriel. When I reached the nearest heaven. Gabriel said to the heaven gate-keeper, 'Open the gate.' The gatekeeper asked, 'Who is it?' He said, 'Gabriel.' The gate-keeper,' Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel said, 'Muhammad.' The gate-keeper said, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel said, 'Yes.' Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!' Then I met Adam and greeted him and he said, 'You are welcomed O son and a Prophet.' Then we ascended to the second heaven. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel said, 'Gabriel.' It was said, 'Who is with you?' He said, 'Muhammad' It was asked, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' It was said, 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!" Then I met Jesus and Yahya (John) who said, 'You are welcomed, O brother and a Prophet.' Then we ascended to the third heaven. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel said, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is with you? Gabriel said, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been sent for?' 'Yes,' said Gabriel. 'He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is!' (The Prophet added:). There I met Joseph and greeted him, and he replied, 'You are welcomed, O brother and a Prophet!' Then we ascended to the 4th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met Idris and greeted him. He said, 'You are welcomed O brother and Prophet.' Then we ascended to the 5th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in previous heavens. there I met and greeted Aaron who said, 'You are welcomed O brother and a Prophet". Then we ascended to the 6th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Moses who said, 'You are welcomed O brother and. a Prophet.' When I proceeded on, he started weeping and on being asked why he was weeping, he said, 'O Lord! Followers of this youth who was sent after me will enter Paradise in greater number than my followers.' Then we ascended to the seventh heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Abraham who said, 'You are welcomed o son and a Prophet.' Then I was shown Al-Bait-al-Ma'mur (i.e. Allah's House). I asked Gabriel about it and he said, This is Al Bait-ul-Ma'mur where 70,000 angels perform prayers daily and when they leave they never return to it (but always a fresh batch comes into it daily).' Then I was shown Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (i.e. a tree in the seventh heaven) and I saw its Nabk fruits which resembled the clay jugs of Hajr (i.e. a town in Arabia), and its leaves were like the ears of elephants, and four rivers originated at its root, two of them were apparent and two were hidden. I asked Gabriel about those rivers and he said, 'The two hidden rivers are in Paradise, and the apparent ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.' Then fifty prayers were enjoined on me. I descended till I met Moses who asked me, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Fifty prayers have been enjoined on me.' He said, 'I know the people better than you, because I had the hardest experience to bring Bani Israel to obedience. Your followers cannot put up with such obligation. So, return to your Lord and request Him (to reduce the number of prayers.' I returned and requested Allah (for reduction) and He made it forty. I returned and (met Moses) and had a similar discussion, and then returned again to Allah for reduction and He made it thirty, then twenty, then ten, and then I came to Moses who repeated the same advice. Ultimately Allah reduced it to five. When I came to Moses again, he said, 'What have you done?' I said, 'Allah has made it five only.' He repeated the same advice but I said that I surrendered (to Allah's Final Order)'" Allah's Apostle was addressed by Allah, "I have decreed My Obligation and have reduced the burden on My slaves, and I shall reward a single good deed as if it were ten good deeds."

Here again we see no reference to Idris being Enoch, if Muslims want to use the excuse about how Enoch was caught up to heaven and that Idris was in heaven, this is fallible due to the fact that all of these other prophets are mentioned too as being in heaven. Again the Hadith doesn't lend any help on how Idris could be Enoch.

Volume 5, Book 58, Number 227:

Narrated Abbas bin Malik:

Malik bin Sasaa said that Allah's Apostle described to them his Night Journey saying, "While I was lying in Al-Hatim or Al-Hijr, suddenly someone came to me and cut my body open from here to here." I asked Al-Jarud who was by my side, "What does he mean?" He said, "It means from his throat to his pubic area," or said, "From the top of the chest." The Prophet further said, "He then took out my heart. Then a gold tray of Belief was brought to me and my heart was washed and was filled (with Belief) and then returned to its original place. Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me." (On this Al-Jarud asked, "Was it the Buraq, O Abu Hamza?" I (i.e. Anas) replied in the affirmative). The Prophet said, "The animal's step (was so wide that it) reached the farthest point within the reach of the animal's sight. I was carried on it, and Gabriel set out with me till we reached the nearest heaven.

When he asked for the gate to be opened, it was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel answered, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has Muhammad been called?' Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened, and when I went over the first heaven, I saw Adam there. Gabriel said (to me). 'This is your father, Adam; pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious son and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me till we reached the second heaven. Gabriel asked for the gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel answered, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel answered in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened.

When I went over the second heaven, there I saw Yahya (i.e. John) and 'Isa (i.e. Jesus) who were cousins of each other. Gabriel said (to me), 'These are John and Jesus; pay them your greetings.' So I greeted them and both of them returned my greetings to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me to the third heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened, and when I went over the third heaven there I saw Joseph. Gabriel said (to me), 'This is Joseph; pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fourth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excel lent visit his is!'

The gate was opened, and when I went over the fourth heaven, there I saw Idris. Gabriel said (to me), 'This is Idris; pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.'…

Volume 9, Book 93, Number 608:

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The night Allah's Apostle was taken for a journey from the sacred mosque (of Mecca) Al-Ka'ba: Three persons came to him (in a dreamy while he was sleeping in the Sacred Mosque before the Divine Inspiration was revealed to Him. One of them said, "Which of them is he?" The middle (second) angel said, "He is the best of them." The last (third) angle said, "Take the best of them." Only that much happened on that night and he did not see them till they came on another night, i.e. after The Divine Inspiration was revealed to him. (Fateh-Al-Bari Page 258, Vol. 17) and he saw them, his eyes were asleep but his heart was not----and so is the case with the prophets: their eyes sleep while their hearts do not sleep. So those angels did not talk to him till they carried him and placed him beside the well of Zam-Zam. From among them Gabriel took charge of him. Gabriel cut open (the part of his body) between his throat and the middle of his chest (heart) and took all the material out of his chest and abdomen and then washed it with Zam-Zam water with his own hands till he cleansed the inside of his body, and then a gold tray containing a gold bowl full of belief and wisdom was brought and then Gabriel stuffed his chest and throat blood vessels with it and then closed it (the chest). He then ascended with him to the heaven of the world and knocked on one of its doors.

The dwellers of the Heaven asked, 'Who is it?' He said, "Gabriel." They said, "Who is accompanying you?" He said, "Muhammad." They said, "Has he been called?" He said, "Yes" They said, "He is welcomed." So the dwellers of the Heaven became pleased with his arrival, and they did not know what Allah would do to the Prophet on earth unless Allah informed them. The Prophet met Adam over the nearest Heaven. Gabriel said to the Prophet, "He is your father; greet him." The Prophet greeted him and Adam returned his greeting and said, "Welcome, O my Son! O what a good son you are!" Behold, he saw two flowing rivers, while he was in the nearest sky. He asked, "What are these two rivers, O Gabriel?" Gabriel said, "These are the sources of the Nile and the Euphrates."

Then Gabriel took him around that Heaven and behold, he saw another river at the bank of which there was a palace built of pearls and emerald. He put his hand into the river and found its mud like musk Adhfar. He asked, "What is this, O Gabriel?" Gabriel said, "This is the Kauthar which your Lord has kept for you." Then Gabriel ascended (with him) to the second Heaven and the angels asked the same questions as those on the first Heaven, i.e., "Who is it?" Gabriel replied, "Gabriel". They asked, "Who is accompanying you?" He said, "Muhammad." They asked, "Has he been sent for?" He said, "Yes." Then they said, "He is welcomed.'' Then he (Gabriel) ascended with the Prophet to the third Heaven, and the angels said the same as the angels of the first and the second Heavens had said.

Then he ascended with him to the fourth Heaven and they said the same; and then he ascended with him to the fifth Heaven and they said the same; and then he ascended with him to the sixth Heaven and they said the same; then he ascended with him to the seventh Heaven and they said the same. On each Heaven there were prophets whose names he had mentioned and of whom I remember Idris on the second Heaven, Aaron on the fourth Heavens another prophet whose name I don't remember, on the fifth Heaven, Abraham on the sixth Heaven, and Moses on the seventh Heaven because of his privilege of talking to Allah directly. Moses said (to Allah), "O Lord! I thought that none would be raised up above me."

The only thing we find out new about Idris in this Hadith is a contradiction. In the previous hadith from Bukhari, which is the most authentic hadith of Islam, we see that Idris was in the 4th heaven while here we see that Idris was in the second heaven!! This shows us that Muhammad couldn't even remember where Idris was stationed at in Heaven and surely it proves that Islamic history is contradictory as well as not providing any information on the character of who Idris was. You can even read in the rest of these hadiths and you will find absolutely nothing about the mysterious Idris.

We see that Islamic thought of Idris being Enoch has no Biblical or Islamic standards, so where did Idris come from and who is the so-called Great prophet? The Quran gives no clue and so too does the Hadith. But History does. And it doesn't look too good about Idris

There were great doubts in the hearts of many in Arabia concerning Muhammad's prophethood. Some of the contents of the Quran declare that it was not inspired by God. Lets revisit the 2 previous verses mentioned about Idris again:


19.56 Also mention in the Book Idrís: he was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet:

21.85 And (remember) Ismail, Idrís, and Zulkifl, all (men) of constancy and patience;

Idris isn't the prophet Enoch, nor is Idris even a human being read:

Idris is the Arabic pronunciation of Osiris. (Islam Muhammad and the Koran, pg. 59)

This abosolutly unbelievable!! The Quran claims that Osiris the Egyptian god is a prophet!!

Wesir, also known as Ausar and the Greek Osiris, is the Kemetic Name of the Lord of the Dead. He is not to be confused with historical predecessors such as Wepwawet, Yinepu (Greek Anubis), Sokar or Sobek.

Wesir is the son of Geb and Nut. He is married to his sister Aset (Greek Isis) and they have a son Heru (Greek Horus). Much of what is commonly known about Wesir, Aset and Heru comes from the Greek myths of Isis and Osiris. In Kemetic text, Wesir's death is attributed to drowning, not the dismemberment myth created later by Plutarch. The dismemberment myth does not appear until a thousand years later and may not even be Kemetic in origin. Wesir, in fact, was never resurrected as many believe. Wesir is Lord of the Dead and dwells in the Blessed Fields of the Dead.

The ancient Egyptian god of the underworld. In Egyptian mythology the god who was ruler and judge in the underworld and the brother and consort of Isis. He is identified with the Nile, and his annual death and resurrection symbolized the self-renewing vitality and fertility of nature. (The Reader's Digest Illustrated Encyclopedic Dictionary, pg. 1203)

These two sources show that Idris, who is Arabic for Osiris is god of the underworld from Egypt!! They might differ on whether Osiris was resurrected but they both agree on the origin of Osiris.

The Koran declares that Idris, or Osiris, who was the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld, is:

... a man of truth [and sincerity], and a prophet. And We [Allah] raised him to lofty station. 19:56-57.

Is Osiris the god of the underworld, or a prophet? According to the Quran he is!!! Remember there is no evidence at all in Islamic history or the Quran to prove that Idris was Enoch. This idea came along later with Muslims who tried to equate Idris to Enoch. This is most embarrassing because it shows that the Quran has fictional characters (to make it even worse, pagan gods) as prophets!

Some Legendary Figures

In the course of developing its teachings, the Quran frequently cites the example not only of prophets and sages of ancient times, BUT ALSO OF SOME LEGENDARY, MYTHICAL OR EVEN FICITIOUS PERSONS. Chief among these is Khidr, the Evergreen who, though not mentioned by name, is recognized as the mysterious person (the possessor of divinely-inspired knowledge of the secret sources of life) whom Moses met on his allegorical journey. This says it all, the Quran is a book which is invented by Muhammad's fanciful mind and these erroneous legends prove this matter. If Muslims contend that Idris is Osiris then how come they can't present any proof from the Quran, first and foremost, and the Authentic hadiths to prove this matter?

6.25 Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the Signs, they will not believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but TALES OF ANCIENTS."

8.31 When Our Signs are rehearsed to them, they say: "We have heard this (before): if we wished, we could say (words) like these: these are nothing but TALES OF ANCIENTS."

16.24 When it is said to them, "What is it that your Lord has revealed?" they say, "TALES OF ANCIENTS!"

23.83 "Such things have been promised to us and to our fathers before! they are nothing but TALES OF ANCIENTS!"

25.5 And they say: "TALES OF ANCIENTS, which he has caused to be written: and they are dictated before him morning and evening."

27.68 "It is true we were promised this,- we and our fathers before (us): these are nothing but TALES OF ANCIENTS."

46.17 But (there is one) who says to his parents, "Fie on you! Do ye hold out the promise to me that I shall be raised up, even though generations have passed before me (without rising again)?" And they two seek Allah's aid, (and rebuke the son): "Woe to thee! Have faith! For the promise of Allah is true." But he says, "This is nothing but TALES OF ANCIENTS!"

68.15 When to him are rehearsed Our Signs, "TALES OF ANCIENTS", he cries!

83.13 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "TALES OF ANCIENTS!"

If the Quran is using ancient Egyptian gods as prophets then the unbelievers are correct when they call the Quran TALES OF ANCIENTS. They made fun of Muhammad because they knew that his stories were nothing more than mere legends of times past. My dear friends Muslims can't talk about the Bible especially since Allah claimed through Muhammad that Idris, Arabic for Egyptian god of the underworld “Osiris” Tales of ancients? Yes the Quran is. Here we see who believes Islamic fiction about Idris, Madam H. P. Blavatsky in The Secret Doctrine: There is nothing surprising in this, for she also trashes
everything about the Bible and Jesus Christ.

In the tradition of the African Dogon tribe, Sirius is Nommo. 995 Nommo is also the name of the three Great Initiates or happy astronomers of the Christ Brotherhood of Sirius. One of these is the prophet Idris or Enoch. This inseparable trio of honorable sages is reminiscent of the Three Principals in Royal Arch Freemasonry.

Read another Bible and Jesus hater as he calls on Muhammed to help him trivialize the Lord's Church and ancient Jewish faith: When these are the "expert witnesses" of the Idris / Enoch myth, then we can only laugh and sincerely mock the idiots. They have a devil.

Look at the company Muslim revisionists have fallen in with as they try to make Enoch into Idris:

The Great Teacher of these Mysteries is Hermes Trismegistus, the Lord of Arcane Wisdom and archetypal Magus. Among the Gypsies, the cards were held to be sacred to Tro or Tehutio, the Romany Hermes-Mercury. The nineteenth-century writer J. A. Vaillant preserved some interesting traditions concerning the Tarot as the "sidereal Book of Enoch," which as the "Wheel" (Rota) is linked with the circling revolutions of the seven stars of the Great Bear constellation around the Pole Star as the dispenser of fates and destinies to the world below. This suggests that we may identify the Tarot, on the mythic level, with the Book of the Secret Wisdom delivered to Enoch by the Angels of Heaven as recounted in the Cabalistic text Sepher-ha-Zohar. Moreover, Enoch, a figure of deep import in the Western Mysteries and Masonic lore, was identified with Hermes Trismegistus by the Sabaean cultists of mediaeval Arabia. They regarded the Prophet Idris (Enoch) as synonymous with Hermes Trismegistus as did the Mandaean Gnostics of Iraq. Thirteenth-century alchemical texts equate Enoch as the Primal Instructor in the Mysteries with "Hermes Triplex," King of Egypt. In mediaeval Masonry, Hermes-Enoch was held to have inscribed the Heavenly Wisdom received from the Angels onto great obelisks, tablets, or pillars before the Flood to ensure its preservation and for the illumination of postdiluvian humankind. In a special sense, the Tarot might well be interpreted as this timeless revelation, the original hieroglyphs of the Heavenly Wisdom. No wonder then that orthodox churchmen from the Middle Ages to the Puritan Commonwealth maligned the Tarot as the "Devil's Picture-Book" and for centuries issued endless prohibitions upon card-play and cartomancy, for beneath the cryptic figures of the old card deck they rightly sensed the signs of hidden knowledge, reflecting as in a mirror the timeless essence of the Magical Art. This is the Art of Cartosophy, revealing the inner Wisdom of the cards.

Note in the following excerpt from, that the myth of Idris and Enoch are coupled in fantasy contrasted with the biblical account. Ishmael is also brought into Enoch's era, which is pure nonsense. It is impossible to take Islam seriously when such crass blunders are foisted on us as truth.

Another allusion to Cain is found in the Quran in a passage where he is called the man "who has seduced among men."1 No one else is mentioned in this period excepting Idris2 who, according to the commentators, is Enoch. This seems probable from the words,3 "And we uplifted him to a place on high," and also from a Jewish writing in which he is counted among the nine who went to Paradise alive. Jalalu'ddin brings this point even more prominently forward4 "He lived in Paradise where he had been brought after he had tasted death; he was quickened however, and departed not thence again." He appears to have gained his name5 on account of the knowledge of tbe Divine Law attributed to him. Elpherar remarks: "He was called Idris (searcher) on account of his earnest search in the revealed Scriptures." It is remarkable that in both these passages of the Quran6 he is mentioned after Ishmael.

Legends from Saba were the foundation of Muhammed's cult, according to this report. Enoch figures in with an apocryphal book attributed to him. Since no books were written in Enoch's era, and word of mouth was the method of passing on the revelation of Jehovah, the cult of Saba was simply a twist on the truth delivered by the true Enoch. That they called him Idris follows closely the mythological notions they held dear. That Muhammed claimed that Allah gave him the same line of cult in a cave outside Mecca merely shows that he saw the usefulness of the Sabean cult, probably having seen it in his ventures down the Frankincense Road to Yemen. Our knowledge of the Sabians is slight, but sufficient for our purpose. An early Arabic writer, Abu Isa'l Maghribi, is quoted by Abu Fida as giving the following account of them. "The Syrians are the most ancient of nations, and Adam and his sons spoke their language. Their religious community is that of the Sabians, and they relate that they received their religion from Seth and Idris (Enoch). Their prayer, like that of Muslims, is one which requires real earnestness and that the worshiper should not let his attention wander to anything else when offering it. They prayed over the dead without either bowing down or prostration, and fasted thirty days; and if the month of the new moon were a short one, then they kept the fast for twenty-nine days. The connexion with their fast they observed the festivals of Fitr ” (breaking the fast at the end of the month) "and Hilal” (new moon), in such a way that the festival of Fitr occurred when the sun entered Aries. And they used to fast from the fourth quarter of the night until the setting of the disk of the sun. And they had festivals at the time of the descending of the five planets to the mansions of their dignity. The five planets are Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Mercury. And they used to honour the House of Mecca" (the Kabab)

From this account we see clearly that the Muslims have borrowed from this obscure sect not a few of their religious practices all of which they believe were taught them by Muhammad at the command of God through the Angel Gabriel. For example, the Ramadan fast of the Muslims lasts 2 a month, from sunrise to sunset, though the rule as to the exact moment when each day begins and ends is, as we shall see 3, derived from the Jews. The supposition that many of these religious customs were borrowed by Muhammad from the Sabians, and that their religion in general (owing perhaps in a measure to its supposed antiquity) had great influence on Islam at its foundation is confirmed by the fact that, when the Banu Jadhimah of Taif and Mecca announced to Khalid their conversion to Muhammadanism, they did so by crying out, "We have become Sabians."

Comparing all the early writings on the Sabeans, we find that they inhabited Syria, and spread from there, they were definitely pagans, having a mixture of Babylonian and Helenic religion. The 'prophets' they professed to follow were Hermes and Agathodaemon, who they identified in Shahrastani's time with Seth and Idris (O.T. Enoch). Gods who were worshipped were the gods of the 7 week-days, the god of the Jinn, the lord of the Hour, the god who makes arrows fly, the god Tammuz (a variation of the one previously mentioned), Hamam the prince, the father of the gods, the god 'North', the lord 'Fortune', etc. They also kept the Eid of their own. Further, the Sabeans made star worship a chief characteristic of their system.

The Qur-an only mentions Enoch under his surname "Idris" - the Arabic form of the Aramaic "Drisha" being of the same category of simple nouns as "Iblis" and "Blisa." "Idris" and "Drisha" signify a man of great learning, a scholar and an erudite, from "darash" (Arabic "darisa"). The Qur-anic text says: "And remember Idris in the same book; for he was a just person and a prophet; and We exalted him to a high place" (xix).

The Muslim commentators, Al-Baydhawi and Jalalu'd-Din, seem to know that Enoch had studied astronomy, physics, arithmetic, that he was the first who wrote with the pen, and that "Idris" signifies a man of much knowledge, thus showing that the Apocalypse of Enoch had not been lost in their time.

After the close of the Canon of the Hebrew Scriptures in the fourth century or so B.C. by the "Members of the Great Synagogue," established by Ezra and Nehemiah, all other sacred or religious literature besides those included within the Canon was called Apocrypha and excluded from the Hebrew Bible by an assembly of the learned and pious Jews, the last of whom was the famous "Simeon the Just," who died in 310 B.C. Now among these Apocryphal books are included the Apocalypses of Enoch, Barukh, Moses, Ezra, and the Sibyline books, written at different epochs between the time of the Maccabees and after the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus. It seems to be quite a la mode with the Jewish Sages to compose Apocalyptical and religious literature under the name of some celebrated personage of antiquity. The Apocalypse at the end of the New Testament which bears the name of John the Divine is no exception to this old Judaeo Christian habitude. If "Judah the brother of the Lord" was really the author of the one hundred and ten chapters bearing that name, there is no wonder that Justin the Martyr, Papias, and Eusebius would believe in the authorship of Matthew and John.

I received a letter from a self-appointed revisionist. I want you to note how this person makes assumptions which he thinks have no other explanation, and then he builds upon his assumptions, which he even admits no one else has discovered other than himself. This is what we deal with from someone on a quest to find The Way without finding The Lord Jesus Christ. His conclusions are off the wall since he assumes his word declension is infallible, and he assumes the Islamic revisionists will agree with him. Bah! This is the same silly method used by Robert Morey to make Allah the moon god.

Long ago my work on cross-cultural etymology led me to the revelation that the Greek + Egyptian addendum "us/as/es/is" originally denoted the pictogram of an outflowing of water. More specifically, it denoted a river flowing down from the original source or spring. When applied to names, like the Hebrew ben (son/daughter of) and bar (fountain or outflowing of aka son/daughter of), it meant "offspring of". I have never once found another soul who had found this to be true, but my own research affirmed it time and again.

So when one reads the Aramaic name Idris, they must realize that it is actually Idr-is, or "son of Idr".

This leaves the name Idr to be deciphered. In etymology the letter *j is always interchangeble with the letter *i, so Idr must be read as J-dr.

Going back to the time and age when Aramaic and Hebrew both stemmed from the same family of phonetic sounds and thus the same laws of grammar, we must realize that the Hebrew habit of deleting vowells found its way into the Aramaic world. So we must re-insert the proper vowels into the name J-dr, but what are they? Thankfully there is only a limited range of possibilities.

One place to look is to the Islamic teachings concerning Idris as being Enoch. Enoch being the son of JARED, we are thus seeing that J-dr is a Aramaic form of Jared, whose son would thus be called Jared-us or Idris.

I am not debating or arguing you about the mythological and historical roots of the Koran or Muhammed's credibility. I am merely supplying you with an apology which would serve the Muslim position that Enoch was Idris.

For that matter, I could probably punch more holes in the Koran than even you, sir, but this is not my goal. I am merely in the habit and career of looking for the grains of truth among the chaffe of cosmological mythology so as to help others move beyond heretical dogma and into that which is most important to my-- the inner light some call The Way.
