The Hadith (Inspired Sayings) of Muhammed

Divorce

Divorce and Divorce again -- Sahih Buhari-- Volume 3, Book 48, Number 807:

Narrated Aisha: The wife of Rifa'a Al-Qurazi came to the Prophet and said, "I was Rifa'a's wife, but he divorced me and it was a final irrevocable divorce. Then I married AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair but he is impotent." The Prophet asked her 'Do you want to remarry Rifa'a? You cannot unless you had a complete sexual relation with your present husband." Abu Bakr was sitting with Allah's Apostle and Khalid bin Said bin Al-'As was at the door waiting to be admitted. He said, "O Abu Bakr! Do you hear what this (woman) is revealing frankly before the Prophet ?"

Muhammed, himself, once decided to divorce Saudah, his second wife, because she had become old and sexually frigid. She saved herself from being an outcast by giving her night, in the order of the bed chamber, to Ayesha whom Muhammed particularly liked. Muhammed graciously accepted. (Fazlul Maulana--  Al Hadis, Vol 2, p. 682)

H.G. Wells tells of Muhammed marrying his young cousin Zainab to his adopted son Zaid. Afterwards, Muhammed married Zainab "after Zaid had accomplished his (sexual) want of her." In Al Koran 33:36-37, Allah very kindly covered for Muhammed by indicating that this incestuous wife swapping actually showed the will of Allah for the Muslim followers.

Fazlul Maulana--  Al Hadis, Vol. 2, p. 705, Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet said, "Every divorce is lawful except the divorce of an idiot or someone deranged in intellect." Attested by Tirmizi. But then we find that Allah hates the very thing he made to be lawful:

Fazlul Maulana--  Same source, p. 702, Ibn Omar reported that the Apostle of Allah said, "The most detestable of lawful things to Allah is divorce. Attested by Abu Daud. You may ask, "How can Allah do this?" Here is the answer: Same source, p. 706, Ibn Abbas reported, "There is expiation in unlawful things: Verily there is an excellent example for you in the Apostle of Allah." Attested by agreement.

And, proving that Allah creates and tolerates evil and divorce: Fazlul Maulana--  Same source, p. 708, Ma`uz-b-Jabal reported that the messenger of Allah said to him, "Allah created nothing on the face of the earth more disliked by him than divorce." Attested by Darqutni.
