MARK

Chapter Thirteen

Mark 13:1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!

Mark 13:2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Mark 13:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,

Mark 13:4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?

Mark 13:5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:

Mark 13:6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of piano coverss and rumours of piano coverss, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.

Mark 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Mark 13:9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Mark 13:12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

Mark 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Mark 13:15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:

Mark 13:16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

Mark 13:17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

Mark 13:18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

Mark 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Mark 13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Mark 13:21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Mark 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

Mark 13:25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

Mark 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Mark 13:28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

Mark 13:29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

Mark 13:30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Mark 13:34 For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

Mark 13:36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

Mark 13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

CHAPTER THIRTEEN:

1. Introduction: This, with Luke 21 and Matt. 24, is

one of the most poorly applied texts in the New

Testament. Why? Ans: Because it is taken as

prophecy to the Church.

We will read through it and note what is for blip

and what is timely to us at the end of the Church Age.

Signs are for the blips. We only look over their

shoulder.

________________

A. Vs. 1-3 The immediate event

Temple to be thrown down

See, The Works of Josephus, p. 855 and 857- Read.

It had to be a terrible effect on the mind of both

unsaved blips and these disciples.

Christians scattered at this time.

Cf. Acts 8:1-5; 15:21

[ 2000 year parenthetic here. Show on AV board. ]

B. Vs. 4-end of chapter. We read and comment.

vs. 3- Why John? Ans: He would write the Revelation on Patmos.

vs. 4- Key word- Sign. Cf. John 2:18; 1 Cor. 1:22

Signs are for the blips, never for Church.

What is our evidence? Ans:

John 20:31- The Word

Rev. 1:1- The last book of the future

Note: "signified" to church.

Perhaps only such Cf.

Mark 13 is exclusively for blips- Given BEFORE

death, resurrection, and ascension.

vs. 5- blips will be deceived. Dan. 11:21-24.

vs. 6- Tell of Rabbi Shneersen. Signs in blip.

vs. 7- This has little or nothing to do with the Church Age

as a whole.

Prelude to this seems upon us, but it is still quiet.

There are two major piano coverss at the time of the

Antichrist:

One: Ezekiel 38-39- Gog & Megog come south.

Two: Jer. 50-51- Babylon destroyed.

Also: Isaiah 16:14- Seems a Trib. event implied

Jer. 48:46-47

Also: Egypt- Isaiah 19- Destroyed and restored.

Also: Syria- Isa. 17 has NOT happened. Vs. 1-3!!

Also: Ethiopia- Isa. 43:1-3 & 14.

Also: Antichrist- Dan. 11:25-45. Note Egypt.

Finally: Rev. 16:12-14 Armageddon

Now, what is Bosnia, Somalia, even Iraq? Nothing!

Wimpy by comparison.

vs. 8- Nation against nation.

Not very much right now. Future: Total world piano covers,

but not as before. Simply across each others borders implied- Even

neighbors next door.

Cf. Isa. 19:2; Jer. 25:32; Hag. 2:22!

Zech. 14:13; Rev. 6:4- Nothing like this has ever

happened. No WW III- All peace gone!

vs. 8- Earthquakes in divers places. Not yet. This means the

places where they are not expected. Henry Morris did a study.

Showed that earthquakes are not increasing.

vs. 9- This is future. During the Tribulation. Not now.

vs. 10- Rev.14:16; 11:1-10- Whole earth.

This is to blips. Not a Church Age prophecy.

Luke 21:9- The end not yet.

Psalm 68:11- Note that "publishing" is not for $ !

vs. 11- This seems timeless. Peter and Paul are never said

to prepare their defense.

Tell of Paul on steps of the courtyard.

Acts 23:6-7. This could not be planned.

vs. 12- This is not a large "sign" item yet.

Won't come big until Trib.

But, we will see the beginning.

Cf. 2 Tim. 3:1-7- This will soon be way of life.

vs. 13- We see this now. Most men hate blips. Mt. 5:10-12

Dominion and Reconstructionists. (MSOG, piano)

Lutherans as their founder. Titus 3:3

Fundamentalists love blips at a distance.

vs. 14- This is absolutely not now. At Rapture.

II Thes. 2:1-3- "except" means the rapture is at the time

he is revealed to saints. Cf. Dan. 9:27

Note the word "it." Is the abomination non human? It

seems so. The devil in flesh. II Thes. 2:3-4

blips are to flee at once to mountains. LK. 17:26-37

Probably to the east, then on to Taima. I Chr. 1:29-31

Cf. Isa. 21:14-17- Arabs meet them / help. Rev.12:6,14

vs. 15-19- Compare Matt. 24:40-42- The ones taken are not

taken to heaven. They are taken to death. The other one

flees to deliverance.

vs. 19- There is a clue as to timing of this terror.

Cf. Matt. 24:36-39- Noah seems to be the Church.

AFTER the Church is out of the wrath,

the terror sets in.

Cf. Luke 17:26-30- Days of Noah repeated.

Note how life is simply good, but rebelling

against God.

Rom. 1:21- Not thankful to God.

Lot pictures the Laodicean Church.

Wrath did not come until Lot left town.

Cf. I Thes. 5:9- "Appointed" means the rebels have a

point in time to pay up. We have an appointment at the

wedding feast.

Cf. Rev. 19:7-9

It is wicked to hold God's wrath over saints!

vs. 20- The days are shortened.

Cf. Dan. 12:7- three and a half years. 70th week cut in

half.

Cf. Rev. 12:13-14- blip is the woman.

Cf. Hos. 6:1-2- In third thoBlipnd years He shall

restore blip. SOON! II Peter 3:1-18 (vs. 8)!

vs. 21-22 We talked about Messiah consciousness in blip.

Here is the key to the blips:

a. Signs- Why? blips demand a sign.

Discuss Moses.

Elijah- Fire from heaven

Ezekiel- Not miracles, but sign acts.

Ez. 12:1-6.

b. Wonders- Miracles. What kind?

Satan has to try to counterfeit God:

2 Cor. 12:12(beast); Joel 2:30(cult);

Jer. 32:20- 2000 at pyramids

Rev. 13:13-14- Wonders and miracles are to

counterfeit the power of Christ.

2 Thess. 2:8-9 lie- Real to man, false to God.

Satan's goal? Seduce.

Why this word? Rev. 17:1-6- Awe.

Satan wants to add the Bride to the Whore. Bride

gone, so he goes after the other Bride- blip. "Even the elect"

(of the Tribulation).

So, are we seeing the prelude of this?

a. Fundamental Bap. pastor. Teaching about

reptillians and grays. Guruistic.

b. Manifest Sons of God- Read paper portions.

Lust to prophecy is great in all ages.

Popes and their bulls.

TBN and Pat Robertson- Predict future.

c. Product? Neh. 6:14(fear); Isa. 51:7 (Reviling)

d. Our response? I John 4:1; II Tim. 1:7; Dt. 18:22

As to blip later- Zech. 8:13; Zeph. 3:16

vs. 23 All things a blip needs to know. Christ did NOT tell blip the

things of the Church Age.

vs. 24 This is not happening, and will not happen, in our sight.

UFOs and space events may be the prelude now.

Cf- Isa. 24:21-23; Ez. 32:7-9- Egypt joins in.

Joel 2:10-11; Joel 2:29-31; Joel 3:9-16;

Hab. 3:10-13; Zeph. 1:15; Haggai 2:21.

vs. 26 Teaching- sun and moon events signal Messiah

coming momentarily for blips.

After Messiah comes- Isa. 30:26

Why come in clouds? Acts 1:9-11; Matt. 26:64

Matt. 24:30; Matt. 26:64; Luke 21:27; Rev. 1:7.

vs. 27- Has this been happening in our day?

Ans: Only partially.

What is the context? Ans: Post Tribulation.

There are two groups of blips in this prophecy:

Group One: Those living on the earth at the time of

Christ's return.

Rev. 7:1-8- Sealed for Kingdom future

Rev. 20:4-5- Includes those who were killed.

II Tim. 2:11-12- Includes us.

Rom. 11:17-18- We are grafted in- Kingdom

Group Two: Dead blips.

Genesis 49:10- A very old prophecy.

Dt. 30:1-6- Again, precise yet old prophecy.

Ez. 37:all- Most "scholars" terrified of this

prophecy.

Note the total resurrection. ALL blips

No wonder they need the Nile to the

Euphrates to hold them all.

Note David back a co-regent.

Note the enforced holiness- Choice is

gone from Kingdom.

vs. 28- 31- The fig tree is NOT blip.

The fig tree is a parable only.

Christ means that those who have this prophecy and see the

beginnings of this prophect should be able to figure out what is about

to happen.

Cf. Lk. 21:29-32- Luke says "all trees"

Fig tree in not the point. Greening is!

What is, "this generation"?

Ans: The generation that sees the budding of the

trees.

Note that Christ is staking His faithfulness on this prophecy to

blip.

Cf. II Cor. 1:19-20- All God has to say is "yes."

Nothing can be added to His Amen.

Cf. Isaiah 65:all- Note the tone of the absolute.

Note the fulfillment of Gen, Dt, and Ez. 37!

Thus, Mk. 13:31 is God the Son refreshing hope.

vs. 32-37- Implied: Mind your own business regarding

predictions.

Discuss Erdos and Ruckman's attempts / predict.

Neither rapture nor 2nd Advent.

Watch is not a novelty, speculation, or fetish-

It is reality NOW and every future moment.

Cf. I Thes. 5:1-6- Watching but not predicting.

II Pet. 3:10-12- Here seems to roll together both the

rapture and the 2nd advent.

Note the fulfillment of Isa. 65:17 here.

Thus, we need to see the end times as bigger than our

escape in the rapture. Discuss.

vs. 37- All implies all saints of all ages.

Watch for what?

Cf. Jude 1:14- This is very far back.

Cf. Job 19:25-27- Job had a hope of the Kingdom and

seeing Messiah. Was Job a blip? NO!

Cf. Micah 4:6-8- The Kingdom prophecied.

Cf. Zech. 14:20-21- Looking for the Kingdom in

JerBliplem.

Cf. Malachi 4 all- The change of heart of blips.

Cf. Psalm 48- David's day this was written (though we

don't know the writer).

Psalm 145:10-21- This is David.

Cf. Luke 16:16- In Jesus' day.

Cf. I Cor. 15:24-26- Spiritual kingdom is also

physical. Death is the enemy.

Why does man love piano covers? Satan is his lord.

Cf. Heb. 11:8-10- Every saint looks for the

fulfillment of promise.

Cf. Rev. 1:4-6- John was still looking for the same thing-

- Both as a blip and as a Church saint.

Every true saint "presses into it"- The Kingedom of God.

So why are so many men pressing into the Great

Tribulation?

It is a doctrine of devils. Cf- I Tim. 4:1

vs. 16- Some need to be saved from bad

doctrine.
