God's Man Is Who I Am
A speck of cosmic dust -

A god of love, yet righteous,

Oh, how I believe it -
I am God's man!
How much longer can we afford to live by the science of 100 years ago? The theory of evolution may have been good enough for Darwin's time, but how long must we venerate the old sacred cow? Must we make it the religion of our day?
What is evolution? Evolution does not simply mean change. Many writers who claim that evolution is a FACT, present evidence only of a change. Let us ask Sir Julian Huxley, an outstanding spokesman of evolution, to give us the proper definition:
"Evolution is a one - way process, irreversible in time, producing apparent novelties and greater variety, and leading to higher degrees of organization, more differentiated, more complex, but at the same time more integrated."
This definition was intended to include both inorganic and organic evolution, and to comprehend the whole of the physical and biological universes. That is, everything in the universe is the result of the process of evolution - development, progress, and higher and higher levels of organization and complexity.
Is such a process taking place NOW in the world? The Bible and true science answer a definite NO.
The Bible teaches that creation is no longer taking place:
"Thus the heavens and the earth were FINISHED, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ENDED His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it He had RESTED from all His work which God created and made" (Gen. 2:1 - 3).
"For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and RESTED the seventh day..." (Ex. 20:11).
"By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth...For He spake, and it was DONE; He commanded, and it STOOD FAST" (Ps. 33:6,9).
"Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou HAST MADE heaven, the heaven of heavens, with ALL THEIR HOST, the earth, and ALL THINGS THAT ARE THEREIN, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou PRESERVEST them all" (Neh. 9:6).
"By the word of God the heavens WERE OF OLD, and the earth STANDING out of the water and in the water" (2 Pet. 3:5).
"The works were FINISHED from the foundation of the world" (Heb. 4:3).
"For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath CEASED from his own works, AS GOD DID FROM HIS" (Heb. 4:10).
The Bible teaches clearly that God's work of creation was finished at the end of six days. God is now preserving everything He had created in six days, but He is no longer CREATING anything.
This is contrary to what evolution teaches. The casual teacher or speaker often refers to the "evolution" of the telephone or of the electric light or of other products of man's industry and intelligence. But the proper word here is "development". All mechanical improvements come about because of direct supervision and control.
Organic evolution in its simplest definition is best expressed by the word "transmutation". The theory admits of no active intelligence in control. Design is foreign to the entire process.
This fantastic illustration of the literal meaning of the word "evolution" may help us to understand its absurdity. We consider the "evolution" of the automobile:
The first tiny two - cylinder gas buggy that came from the workshop of man was not used, but left by itself on a vacant lot of great size. There, unaided by any "external force" and helped along only by "powers resident in itself" this little two - cylinder car gradually passed through a most amazing series of changes.
First, it developed into a four - cylinder improvement over the original ancestor, and then became a credible vehicle like the Ford car of about 1912. From this it gradually developed into a six - cylinder car, and after many changes the complex, highly organized and perfectly functioning twelve - cylinder car of the modern age emerged. Would this be evolution? No, not yet. But, if this process of gradual change continued, without outside aid or supervision, until the highest type of automobile developed wings and flew off as an airplane, that would be evolution.
Ridiculous, you say? Certainly it is, but not one iota more improbable than that an amoeba became a worm, the worm became a fish, the fish in turn became an amphibian, which then gradually became a reptile, which later gave rise to a bird, the bird became a mammal, and the mammal became a man!
The Bible teaches clearly that nothing now is being created or destroyed. When we study the laws of nature, we find that the most universal law - and the law of all science - is the LAW OF CONSERVATION. There are many such laws: the conservation of mass, the conservation of electric charge, the conservation of angular momentum, and of energy.
Energy includes everything in the physical universe. All forms of matter are merely forms of energy. Energy may appear as mechanical, electrical, chemical, light, heat, sound, and so on.
Let us examine whether the Bible teaching of creation or the myth of evolution is in closest agreement with the two most important laws of physics: the first and second laws of thermodynamics. Let us keep in mind that there is no evidence whatever that evolution has taken place, but there is firm scientific evidence that evolution could not take place.
The first law of Thermodynamics is just another name for the law of Conservation of Energy. It states that energy can be transformed in various ways, but can never be created or destroyed. This simply means that mass - energy is neither being created nor destroyed. This is exactly what we have just seen from the Word of God. It is a truth that science cannot explain.
The second law of Thermodynamics also disproves evolution by erasing it form the realm of factual science. This law states that in all energy transformations there is a tendency for some of the energy to be transformed into non - reversible heat energy. In other words energy runs down or depreciates, and this depreciation is called "ENTROPY". The word entropy comes from two Greek words meaning "in - turning" which is just the opposite of evolution which means "outpiano coversd and uppiano coversd".
Since everything in the physical universe is energy in some form, and since in every process some energy becomes unavailable, the net result is that sometime in the future ALL energy in the universe will be unavailable energy. No more work will be done. This is what the physicists call its ultimate "heat death".
If we trace the available energy back to God's original creation we would find that available energy equalled total energy. Since energy could not create itself, the creation account is the best scientific answer to the world's beginning: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Gen. 1:1).
The basis of science is that all things can be explained in terms of presently observable laws. This is actually taking the same conclusion as the Bible while refusing to acknowledge the Creator of all.
Isaac Asimov shows how all processes in life go with an increase of entropy or the change downpiano coversd and inpiano coversd:
"Another way of stating the Second Law then is: The universe is constantly getting more disorderly. Viewed that way, we can see the Second Law all about us. We have to work hard to straighten a room, but left to itself, it becomes a mess again very quickly and very easily. Even if we never enter it, it becomes dusty and musty. How difficult to maintain houses, and machinery, and our own bodies in perfect working order; how easy to let them deteriorate. In fact, all we have to do is nothing, and everything deteriorates, collapses, breaks down, wears out, all by itself - and that is what the Second Law is all about."
How then can any process which goes from order to disorder result in evolution, which goes from disorder to order?
It would be impossible to find two more completely opposite principles than this principle of entropy increase and the principle of evolution. As Huxley defined it, evolution involves a continual INCREASE of order, of organization, of size, of complexity. The entropy principle involves a continual DECREASE of order, of organization, of size, of complexity. Both cannot be true. There is no question, however, that the second law of thermodynamics is true.
There is no doubt that entropy will decrease in an open system, such as the growth of a child or the raising of a building. Here is an example of an influx of extra "energy" into that system, so that temporary decay is offset. But that child or that building or anything else will EVENTUALLY start to grow old and decay.
The Bible teaches clearly that nothing today is being created or destroyed because God has finished His creation and God is preserving His creation. Although God at the beginning created everything "good" it was through sin that decay entered in. Because of the sin of Adam, God's curse came upon this world and its whole system and it will continue until God creates the new heavens and the new earth. When this happens all forms of decay will be no more - no sorrow, no pain, no crying, and no death. Yes, and there will be no more curse according to Revelation 22:3. What a blessing it is to believe the Bible and what the Bible says about its wonderful Creator, God Himself, even the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Last week we spoke of and defined evolution. What then is science? According to the dictionary it is "Knowledge gained and verified by exact observation and correct thinking; especially as methodically formulated and arranged in a rational system."
This definition takes you out of the realm of speculation. It disposes of such terms and "theory" and "hypothesis", making them possible servants of science, but never its synonyms.
But Pastor, aren't you acquainted with the scientific proofs of evolution? My answer is that I am acquainted with the fact that evolution is not scientifically possible.
First, "Acquired characters" are not transmitted to or inherited by the offspring as the evolutionists declare. The habit of foot binding, for example, common among Chinese women for centuries has not led to any inherited deformity of the foot. Our domestic chicken is a descendant of the Roman fowl and no essential change has taken place in 2000 generations of breeding.
The modern study of genes shows that they occur in each cell of a plant, animal, or person. They are the most important particles in the chromosomes. In the division of cells and the formation of eggs and sperms it is necessary that new genes be formed from the old ones. A hundred years ago it was thought that the genes might be formed slightly different each time and so perform a gradual progressive change over a series of generations. But careful study has shown that nature takes great pains to make the new genes just like the old ones. If a gene changes at all it is by an accidental reorganization called a mutation, which occurs very rarely. But mutations are always inferior and they would never survive for long in nature. Professor H. J. Muller of Indiana University has stated:
"Most mutations are bad. In fact, good ones are so rare that we can consider them all as bad."
If mutations were the basis of new species it would be the survival of the unfit. There is absolutely no scientific evidence or biological evidence that any amoeba has changed through the centuries into a man.
Secondly, your teacher or professor or doctor will remind you of the evidence of evolution which is based on the theory of recapitulation which has no foundation whatever of objective facts.
The argument is already outdated, for the so - called gill slits, for example, in the human embryo never are accompanied by gills or primordial of gills and they never break through to make slits. They are simply a series of furrows between arches. Ehrlich and Holm both said that this outdated view is "biological mythology."
The general form of a young embryo of man or pig or bird is far removed from the shape of a fish, for this embryo has a large brain, a large heart but no arms, legs, fins, or any kind of appendage until a later stage of development. In fact, the proportions are not like those of any mature, free - living animal. The heart is formed early because the embryo needs blood; the brain gets an early start because it is a complex organ and needs much time for its development. There still is purpose in the world and science is not harmed by acknowledging it.
We recognize that the real storm centre between evolutionists and scientists and the Bible is the first chapter of Genesis, and indeed, the first three chapters. May we see today that a careful study of Bible creation, instead of demonstrating the discord between Science and Scripture, will reveal the most undreamed of agreement in these great books of God.
Notice the order of creation as taught in Genesis 1: First, God created the heaven; second, the earth; third, water; fourth, light; fifth, firmament; sixth, grass; seventh, herb; eighth, tree; ninth, appearance of heavenly bodies; tenth, fish; eleventh, moving things; twelfth, fowls; thirteenth, creeping things; fourteenth, cattle; fifteenth, man.
Certainly the latest science will agree with this order of creation. Let us realize the unspeakable significance of this order when considered before the law of permutation. The Standard Dictionary says;
"The number of permutations of any given number of things, taken all at a time, is equal to the product of the natural numbers from one up to the number given, inclusive."
Now if Moses only spoke the science of his time, he knew practically nothing of the order of creation. He could only make a guess. You say it was only an accident that he mentioned the heavens first rather than the earth. Have you heard the story of the Irishman who, meeting a neighbour, said, "We have a fine baby at our house this marnin." "What is it?" asked the interested friend. "Guiss!" "A girl", said the neighbour. "No, sir; guiss agin!" "A boy". "Now who's bin tellin' ye?" To be sure Moses had but one chance out of two on this arrangement. But he got it right.
The third fact is the appearance of water. Here Moses' task was not so easy, for it was not one in three, but one in six, according to the law of permutation. Here are the possibilities of six different arrangements; heavens, earth, water; heavens, water, earth; earth, heavens, water, etc.. or 123, 132, 213, 231, 321, or 312. But Moses somehow struck the right one.
When you introduce light you have 24 such relations. Moses hit it again. One chance in twenty - four, but he was the lucky man. When you get the fifth, you have 120 possible orders. Strange to say Moses does not miss it! When you get the sixth, you have 720. In other words there are 719 chances against you. But Moses got it right!
When you get to the seventh, you have 5,040. He had 5,039 chances against him, but he got it right again. When you get to the eighth you have 40,320. When you get to the ninth you only have one chance in 362,880. When you get to the eleventh you have 39,916,800. When you get to the fifteenth you have one chance in 1,307,675,367,900. And yet, strange to say, in the whole arrangement, Moses never misses! Yet we hear so much about the mistakes of Moses!
The only answer that can be given as to the origin of this universe and life itself is found in the Bible: "In the beginning GOD created the heaven and the earth" (Gen. 1:1). Behind all creation is the living God. Evolution would do away with any personal God. Evolution's main design is to promote atheism in thought.
The fact remains that more and more scientists are returning to the belief that life had it beginning in God. The Bible declares regarding man in Genesis 2:7:
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
This is what the scientists are coming to believe more and more. Leorande Woodruff (Biology, Yale University) said:
"We thus reach the general conclusion that, as far as observation and experimentation are concerned, no form of life exists today except from pre - existing life."
Professor T. L. More (Physics, University of Cincinnati) says:
"To talk of the evolution of thought from sea slime to amoeba, and from amoeba to a self - conscious thinking man, means nothing; it is the easy solution of the thoughtless mind."
Genesis Chapter 1 also teaches ten times that there is no evolution form one kind to another. Each tree, each seed, each herb, each bird, each creature was to bring forth AFTER HIS KIND. There may be variations within each kind but the fact is that all kinds came from direct creation by God. Doctor McNair Williams (Oxford, Editor Medical Publications) says:
"Modern medicine and surgery are founded on the truth enunciated by Pasteur, that life proceeds only from life, and only from life of the same kind and type."
Professor T. H. Morgan of the California Institute of Technology says,
"Within the period of human history we do not find a single instance of the transformation of one species into another. It may be claimed then that the theory of descent is lacking in the most essential feature that it takes to place it on a scientific basis."
The clear choice is between the unscientific view of evolution and the Bible. Evolution says:
"The fossil record is good evidence that man himself did not appear suddenly on the earth in his present form, but has gradually developed from a much more primitive species."
The Bible says:
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" (Gen. 1:26).
Evolution says we cannot know about creation (Gruenberg and Bingham, Biology and Man. P. 447).
The Bible says:
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." And, "For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven" (Ps. 119:89).
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Gen. 1:1).
There is nothing in true science to contradict this important statement. There is nothing in evolution to discount it. Behind all creation and all life is the Eternal God.
The fact that it was "God" who "created the heaven and the earth" denies ATHEISM which is disbelief in the existence of a God or Supreme Being. According to Psalm 14:1, atheism is the belief of fools. The fact that "God created" also denies AGNOSTICISM - the doctrine that neither the existence nor the nature of God, nor the ultimate origin of the universe, is known or knowable. They plainly say, "We do not know if there is a God." The fact that "In the beginning God" also denies MATERIALISM which sates that "matter is eternal." Genesis 1:1 states clearly that God created matter and therefore God existed before there was any creation.
Today the neo - evangelicals are promoting "theistic evolution." This is the belief that God started the work of creation but the processes of evolution completed it. This is nothing more than an accommodation to harmonize the Bible and evolution, in order to be popular both with God's people and the Devil's crowd. Theistic evolution is a denial of the Bible. It denies the plain teaching that God created ALL - the heavens and the earth and man himself. It denies the plain teaching of man's fall, for evolution in any form teaches progress and development.
Are there two accounts of the creation of man? The so - called critics say there are. They refer to Genesis 1:26,27 and Chapter 2:7. The blip has three words for God's work in the creation of man: Bara - to create or bring into existence out of nothing. Asah - to make out of created material. Jatsar - to mould into a form, as a potter; to squeeze into shape. These three words explain the meaning of these two passages.
There are not two contradictory accounts but one account which is then expanded into more detail. This is called the law of rhetoric, known as the law of recurrence, a peculiarity of the Bible that the critics know nothing about. By this law the Holy Spirit first states a fact, and afterpiano coversds recurs to it for the purpose of enlarging upon some details. The first chapter of Genesis deals with the Creation, and certain facts concerning its renovation. In Genesis 2 the Holy Spirit recurs to the first chapter, selects one of the details, man, and enlarges upon it. In the first chapter man is spoken of in relation to all Creation; and in the second chapter man is spoken of in relation to the Creator.
Let me now read what the Bible says about man's origin in Genesis 1:26:27:
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them."
Then Genesis 2:7:
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
When God created man in His own image He created him as a trinity being. God is a trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; so man is a body, soul, and spirit (1 Thess. 5:23). The body is the physical part of man, the part we see and feel. If man were to have life apart form the soul he would have unconscious life, life as found in a tree or flower. But God has given man a soul; man was made a living soul. The soul is the seat of such powers as the mind, the emotions, and the will.
Man also has a spirit and this spirit gives to man a God - consciousness. This distinguishes man from the animal and plant kingdoms. While the soul is self - conscious life, the spirit is God - conscious life. In this respect there is no similarity between man and the animal. The Bible declares:
1. Man was created in the image of God, not the monkey.
2. Man is the object of God's love, not the monkey.
3. Christ died for man, but not for the monkey.
4. Man is capable of appreciating the beauty of nature, but not the monkey.
5. Christ was made in the likeness of man, but not in the image of the monkey (Phil. 2:5 - 8).
6. Man knows the meaning of responsibility, but not the monkey (Psalm 26:1 - 12).
7. Man knows there is a life hereafter, but not the monkey (blips 9:27; Ecclesiastes 1:8 - 10).
8. We emphasize again that God is the Creator of all. His power and will are manifested in His bringing of the earth and all living things into existence.
Furthermore, there is order in the creative activities. There is a division of six days, the seventh being the original Sabbath on which no work was done. On the third day plant life was created; on the fifth, birds and sex creatures; and on the sixth, various kinds of animals, and finally man himself.
The creation of man was the climax of creative activity. Man was last in order but first in importance.
Again, the Bible makes clear that God created the different forms of life "after his kind." Ten times this is referred to in Genesis. God says there is no evolution from one kind to another. This fact cannot be disputed by any scientific evidence. Each species brings forth AFTER HIS KIND.
We know of course that within EACH KIND there are variations and changes and development. But all the kinds came from one original created stock. This is the plain teaching of the Bible and this is true according to scientific observation.
How sad it is today that the so - called evolutionists do all they can to suppress the plain truth of God regarding creation. God speaks of them in Romans 1:18:
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness".
You will discover that those who suppress the truth of God's Word do so in unrighteousness. From their wicked hearts they suppress the truth.
"The carnal mind is enmity against God" (Romans 8:7).
We are not against freedom of speech. If a man believes that the moon is made of green cheese, there should be nothing to prevent him from declaring his convictions to the people. On the other hand, when that man tries to belittle another man who does not believe the moon is made of green cheese, when he refuses to give honest answers to serious questions, substitutes ridicule for reason, evasion for investigation, and fear for frankness - when he takes these measures to meet objection, it is a pretty safe bet that that man does not really believe the green cheese theory himself.
If you want to make yourself unpopular either in the school or university class room, just declare that you do not believe in evolution. Try it sometime even at a ministerial meeting. You will quickly see the smirking smiles exchanged among your hearers and you will be avoided as if you were a leper.
Praise God, we are not ashamed to be counted among those who believe in the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. We can trust the Bible whenever it speaks on history, science, moral standards, and spiritual truth.
We search the world for truth.
We cull The good, the truth, the beautiful,
From graven stone and written scroll,
And all old flower fields of the soul;
And, weary seekers of the best,
We come back laden from our quest,
To find that all the sages said
Is in the Book our mothers read. -

Genesis 1:26,27: "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them."
The teaching of evolution says that life began with one living cell. We cannot refrain from asking, "From whence came that one living cell?" There is no answer unless we recognize God.
According to evolution, this first cell was endowed with marvellous powers as it worked very slowly and persistently uppiano coversd and onpiano coversd through millions of years. Then it gradually developed itself into a many - celled organism, passing along into the work stage - first round, then long - without a backbone, battling furiously against great odds, until it grew for itself a backbone and became a fish.
The late Dr. Henry Fairfield Osborn, Origin and Evolution of Life, Preface, page x, wrote:
"Our present state of opinion is this: We know to some extent how plants and animals and man evolve. We know, for example, that there has existed a more or less complete chain of beings from monrad to man."
Professor Edwin Conklin of Princeton in The Direction of Human Evolution, page 4, says:
"Man in his entirety is regarded by science as the product of evolution. His actual origin goes back not to Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden...but to more primitive races of men, and then to prehuman ancestors, and in the end to the earliest forms of life upon the earth. Between us and these earliest forms there has been an unbroken line of descent, an uninterrupted stream of life, through all the ages."
Professor Vernon Kellogg, in Evolution, page 221, states the case in like manner:
"The evidence for the evolution of man is gained, just as is the evidence for the evolution of the plants and other animals, from the study of anatomy, physiology, embryology, palaeontology, and geographical distribution. From all these sources there are impressive testimonies to man's oneness with all other life, to his origin by evolutionary processes form lower life forms."
But not all scientists are so crude as to believe this as factual. Dr. Osborn wrote in Origin and Evolution of Life:
"It is best frankly to acknowledge that the chief causes of the orderly evolution of the germ are still entirely unknown."
Professor L. T. More, late of Cincinnati University, in his widely read book, The Dogma of Evolution, page 243 writes:
"In our eagerness to get away from the medieval idea of man as divine, for whom the universe was created and by whom alone its phenomena can be comprehended, we are now busy with the effort to class him with the amoeba and with the lump of earth form which his body is fashioned. Yet, in spite of the speculations of centuries, we have not advanced a step beyond the noble and dignified description of the creation as given by the blip prophet in the Book of Genesis. We may dismiss his story of the Garden of Eden as an allegory, but when he stated that man was created out of the dust, and that God breathed into him the Breath of Life, all was said of that supreme mystery which can be said."
The evolutionists are deceivers in presenting theories as though they were facts or as though all scientists followed this trend of thought. They claim that religion began with primitive man's fear of the unseen. This gradually led him to animism, then to the worship of inanimate objects such as stones and trees, then on to the worship of serpents, higher animals, until he finally created for himself a host of gods. Then in the process of evolution his number of gods grew smaller until he finally arrived at monotheism or the worship of one god.
Dr. Stephen M. Langdon, Professor of Assyriology at Oxford, shows that archaeologists are more in agreement that the earliest religion was monotheism:
"Monotheism in the Old Testament, and Islamic monotheism, were not the result of a direct evolution from polytheism. It was a false conception of the history of religion to suppose that polytheism was necessarily connected with low types of culture. In fact, polytheism was characteristic of the greatest cultures of antiquity, but it grew out of monotheism, and was only a theological interpretation of primitive monotheism. The history of the Sumerian religion, which was the most powerful religious and cultural influence of the ancient world, could be traced by means of pictographic inscriptions back almost to the earliest religious concepts of man. The evidence pointed unmistakably to an original monotheism. The inscriptions and literary remains of the oldest of the Semitic peoples also indicate a primitive monotheism, and the totemistic origin of blip and other Semitic religions is now entirely discredited."
There is another great error that the evolutionary theory of man's origin has advanced and left unsolved. It is this: If man is as old as the evolutionists say he is, why are not more people living upon the earth today?
Let me illustrate. We know from the study of archaeology that Abraham was born about 2160 B.C. He was 100 years old when Isaac was born and Isaac was sixty years old when Jacob was born. Jacob married Rachel and Leah when he was in his eighties. So the beginning of the blipish people would be about 2000 B.C. Thus the descendants of Jacob have doubled themselves about 23 1\2 times in nearly 4000 years since the time of Jacob.
Now to check this conclusion let us notice that Sir Leonard Woolley places the date of the flood silt which he discovered at Ur at 3500 B.C. If we begin with Noah and his family of seven, eight in all, and use the same ratio of increase for 5500 years, the time since the flood, we find there should be about 2,800,000,000 children of our father Noah in the world today. The present population is about 3,200,000,000 so the figures are not far apart.
Suppose we take the figures of the evolutionist that man is even 50,000 years old. If we use the same ratio of increase, taking into consideration the same circumstances of death, we will find that the human family would have doubled itself 294 times. Now how many people do you suppose would be upon earth today?

But the evolutionist will never say die. They are determined to do away with God and to undermine the very foundation of our faith in the Bible. As long as man refuses to accept the Bible as the Word of God, there can be no peace between the godless, speculative "scientists" and the believer.
This brings us face to face with out attitude topiano coversds Jesus who endorsed and affirmed the entire record of Adam and Eve. For years the modernists refused to believe the inspired, infallible Word of God. They rejected the Virgin Birth, the miracles, the literal interpretation of the Bible, and God's plan of salvation. But they could make no headway as long as people read the Bible for themselves.
This is exactly the issue before us. If we accept evolution then the Genesis record is a fable. There is no middle - ground. We, of course, agree with this professor that 'the whole idea of Adam and Eve won't fit in with evolution.' This brings us directly to the final question: Can an evolutionist be a Christian?
A Christian is a believer in and a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. He acknowledges Christ to be God and accepts the Bible as the infallible Word of God. The Lord Jesus repeatedly referred to every section of the Old Testament as coming directly from God, and Genesis was certainly included. There are hundreds of references to creation, but not one to evolution, and our Lord affirmed that "God created."
Evolution denies the historical and scientific accuracy of the Genesis account of creation, rejects the Personality of God, and the Deity of Christ, and refutes the final authority of God's Word. In other words, their god is not the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Their denial of Christ's deity makes it impossible for them to be saved. Christ has made possible our salvation for He alone is THE WAY and THE DOOR into HEAVEN.
Of course we are using the word Christian as the Bible uses it, not in the popular sense that it is being used today. The popular use of the word Christian must be spelt differently than the Bible way. Today it should be CHURCHian for so many believe they are Christians because of their church relationship, but it is our relationship to Christ that God looks upon.
It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ God's Son, that we can be cleansed form sin. The only authority we have for our salvation is the Bible. It is not even what the church says but what God declares in His Word.
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever" (1 Peter 1:23).
