ONE BIBLE BELIEVER'S RESPONSE
TO THE ISLAMIC WAR
DECLARED ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

By Mike

Friends and loved ones,

I've always said that I would flee from a draft if one was started because of some meaningless war that our government dreamed up. I've also said that if someone attacked the United States of America on our own shores that I would help defend our country. This thing that has happened is one of those attacks against the United States of America and HAS affected us directly.

Both David C. and I were directly affected vocationally, and my parents lost business because of it. Is this enough to cause me to want to go to war against those who have attacked us? No, not in the slightest. However, this attack was aimed in part at the USA because we stand for freedom and the right of man to make a free choice as to what we believe. God allows us to have that choice and it would be careless to throw it away if there is something we can do to stop or slow the process.

The United States of America chose to support Israel and I don't agree with all that has happened there, but it IS the right thing to do. This man, Osama bin Laden, is attacking the United States of America because we support Israel. If the United States of America didn't support Israel, we would deserve judgment from God because of it. We have been attacked because of one of the only things that the United States does right, support Israel.

I'm saying all this because I want it to be known that if there is a war because of this man and his allies in Afghanistan, I will do all I can to help our government bring justice upon those to whom it is due. I will not kill innocent people, but I can tell you now, if Osama bin Laden was standing in front of me and it was known that he WAS the one behind all this, I would act in the spirit of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and slay the man that slew thousands of innocent people.

What if one of our family members had been aboard one of those planes? Or what if one of our friends was visiting the observation deck on Tower #2? It not so unlikely that it could have happened, I have personally met one person who was near the explosion when it happened. He used to live near us in Michigan. We personally know several people here in Knoxville that have flown flights in and out of NYC several times in the past couple years - they could have been on one of those planes - thank God they weren't!

Anyway, the Lord has given this nation peace and it's likely that he is allowing these things to happen so we will lose economic power in the world according to prophecy. However, he also has placed us in this country and as long as we have freedom we should fight for that freedom. I do not want to live in another Russia if I can help it!

Rest assured that out of the thousands that were killed in this atrocity, there must have been some that professed the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. How I wish that most of them were saved rather than lost and now burning in the hell that God prepared for the devil.

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

May God surely bring evil to pass upon the heads of those responsible for the wicked killing of many thousands of people!

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Don't get me wrong, I feel that this nation has done MUCH to receive judgment from God, however, think of the many stories in the Old Testament where the Lord used some wicked nation to hurt his people, and then in turn he punished that wicked king for attacking his people. I'm not saying the United States of America is righteous enough to deserve any help from the Lord, but when innocent people die and many of them were likely God's chosen people, Jews and Christians, then God is not going to be complacent about that.

Since this is an attack from Islam against God's people in more ways than one, I feel we should make an example of those that would kill all Christians and Jews, such as Osama bin Laden. If there is a way I can help without violating my conscience, I will.

The LORD be magnified!

-Mike
