HOWARD ORGAN CHAIR
Howard
Organ Chairs are custom built and are designed for playing large organs
with
a full bass manual. The double seat allows full movement of the legs while
supporting
the buttocks without supporting the tail bone, a source of much trouble
during
long practice sessions. The chair also swivels to allow the musician to move
to
a comfortable position to play the bass pedals, and the swivel travel is offset
forward
so that the hands and feet follow the arc pattern of the key manuals.
This greatly
diminishes the problem of working forward and the feeling of falling
off the bench,
and for the ladies, it helps solve the creeping up of the skirt.
You
will at first need to learn to "ride" the chair so that you are comfortable
with the
action, and male players will learn to sit a bit more cautiously
than the ladies for reasons
that become self-evident. Jesse Crawford demanded
a Howard chair at all his performances
because of the freedom it gave him.
This is an old world product that still finds modern uses.
Hand
rubbed acrylic lacquer finishes available: White, Black, Metallic Gold, Cordovan
Brown. Fully adjustable to fit the musician. 125 lb weight. Upholstery samples
available.

WORLD
WIDE ORDERS:
I searched the world for a good bench, and all I found were flaky weak legged benches from Italy and the Orient. If you like deco rubbish, and if you weigh less that 130 lbs (60 kilos), go ahead and buy one of these spindly legged strays. But, if your bench will do hard work, you need the best world class bench. This time, "Made in USA" truly IS the best.
We don't question other people's work, but when it comes to piano benches, Jansen is the best, hands down, and er.... fanny down.
